plasma tv vs. lcd vs. led?
plasma tv’s seem to be energy hogs and give off ambient heat. LCD’s slower response, 120hz max run cooler but just not as good a picture as plasmas. LED’s are relatively new (aka Pricey $$$!), have either edge lit or full array back-lites (Sharp only), run cooler, less energy, but, still basically LCD Tv’s with an LED light source.Looking for 46′ to 52″ and having trouble deciding what to buy.
Ever since Pioneer left the Plasma TV market about a year and a half ago, the best sets (and they really aren’t that expensive) have been the top-end plasma models from Panasonic. Yes, they are energy hogs, but the one I got about a year ago (a 42″ Panasonic) really doesn’t get much beyond room temperature even after hours of HD display (and if you are watching SD, it doesn’t heat up at all).
Personally, I wouldn’t consider the LEDs until OLED takes over (if it ever does).
