How much better is an LED tv from an LCD tv in comparison to price?

I guess I basically want to know if I am getting what I pay for. My husband and I saw an LED tv at Best buy and the picture was amazing!!!! Better than an LCD could ever be we thought anyways. We are looking around and just want to make sure that we are getting what we will be paying for and that it is going to be as good as we think it is and worth it. Also now I see they have not only 120HZ but 240HZ! Is it worth it to get the best and get the 240HZ or is that just going too far?

The whole hz thing is mostly for film based movies!

Film based movies are recorded at 24fps(frames per second), which causes motion ‘juttering’ on 60hz TV’s. This is because the 24fps doesn’t divide evenly into 60hz, so the TV has to repeat frames to compensate! The repeating of frames creates a ‘juttering’ affect during fast motion!

120hz & 240hz TV’s(LCD) are meant to fix this problem by eliminating the repeating frame feature. Also known as 3:2 pulldown. So in short, a 240hz TV will be a bit more smoother then a 120hz TV!

If you want the absolute best in film reproduction, get a Pioneer, Panasonic or Samsung Plasma TV. The newest models of Panasonic and Samsung have 600hz refresh rates and have the smoothest playback of film based sources. They also have the fastest response times(.001ms), making them best suited for sports and gaming! Not to mention, Plasma’s are much more affordable then LED LCD’s!
