FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • On some car DVD systems whenever I try to insert or remove an SD card, the screen goes back up too quickly. What can be done about this?
The CVGX-C30 uses a slightly different approach to screen raising or lowering. If you press on the eject / angle button it will raise or lower depending on your previous instructions. If you press and hold, the screen will raise or lower fully, so you have full control of how you want the unit to respond.
  • You mentioned that this product is compatible with iPods. Will my iPod Nano work with it?
We tested iPod compatibility using a 3rd generation iPod Nano 4GB.
  • When the DVD is playing I have trouble accessing the menu. What can be done?
The secret to menu access is to remember that by touching the video playing portion of the screen you bring up the menu. If you tap outside of the video area you adjust the screen.
  • Your car DVD players are great, but the user manuals could use some improvement. Any solutions there?
This is one of the best car DVD players we’ve tested, but more surprisingly the user manual is great too. We’re sure you’ll find it very helpful.
  • Does this cool in-car total solution support the Greek language?
No, this unit does not support the Greek language.

Customer Review:

I buy many things from Amazon, but rarely write reviews. As already mentioned, this TV so disappointing that I had to go clear to potential buyers. I probably spent 60 hours or more comments from the reading, research in-store TV, compare prices, etc. If you read this, you are probably very different. In this case, do not make a mistake buying the TV.

I chose for the LG 5400 because of the good things that I read (almost no examination at the time), as well as the good things that I saw on the screen. I talked with some very good techies television, all recommended by the plasma or one of the few high-end lights (including this model). I love my Samsung LCD 2 years for the sport, so I decided to stick it in the family of LCD and go with this model. I saw the 42 “block is calibrated to play Blu-Ray, and was impressed enough to buy it today.

It took more than a week after free shipping, but I’m satisfied with my services from the sender (CEVA). I dropped DirecTV and LG LHB335 Blu-ray over HDMI 1.3b Cables and sat down to watch the show. What I saw was unwatchable border. uneven lighting, bloom effects, beautiful color, light board, objects 120 Hz, so I spent hours setting parameters and tried to convince me that this is not so bad, but I got Amazon (great service and fast recovery / restitution). Risk factor that you should know, any loss of quality when increasing the size of the edge, lit. Believe me, 42 “appeared on various television networks and non-calibrated 1! Another strange thing is that the field of TV came to the wrong specifications, as a contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1 4, 000000: 1 seat. I contacted Amazon and they can not explain why I contacted LG and they said that the field is incorrect. I must admit I got a lemon, even foreign version. I’m wondering if I got the Australian version, because the field offices, and the fact that the number of model “OFF” then depending on the site, but LG France, which produced 5400 Australia. serial number is also found that American television from LG. the idea, but no chance on this TV.

In the end I decided to go with 54G25 plasma Panasonic, and I’m glad I did. LG strikes later in each category. If you have a plasma highly recommend it. I also have a 42 “Panasonic (42PZ800U), and I love them so much.

Picture Quality Stood Out vs All the Others

I’ve had this TV for just over 24 hours and so far I’m pleased. I chose the LG 5400 after visiting the local blue and yellow store as they were changing over their 2009 models to the 2010s. I was initially impressed by the Samsung LED LCDs and was getting close to buying the Samsung 7100 (7000 everywhere else with a red ToC vs. Grey at this store) when on my third trip to the store, they had just put the LG up on the wall. The picture stood out right away from the Samsungs and the Panasonic Plasma above it. The other decidng factor over the Samsung was the matte screen on the LG. The Samsungs have a high gloss screen just like a Plasma which is a problem for the room that I planned to put the TV in. It has multiple windows and lots of light so a high gloss screen would reflect way too much. As for the Pro’s and Cons, here’s what I have noticed so far:

Pro’s: Picture quality with deep blacks and sharp contrast, picture adjustment wizard and ability to tweak it to the Nth degree including judder, sleek case appearance, internet widgets (haven’t played with these too much yet so they might just be toys to brag about but, not too useful), Solid build
Cons: missing some features that others in the price range have like local dimming LEDs, PIP/POP, room light sensing, and a universal remote, 120hz instead of 240hz (not that I’ve noticed a problem yet).

Lastly, a note about mounting this TV on a wall; all of the permanent hook-ups are on the back surface (i.e not recessed into the case) so if you plan to use a low profile mount, you’ll need right angle adapters for everything (HDMI, Component Video, VGA, etc). You’ll need at least 1.75″ of clearance from the back of the TV to the wall to get all your connections made. You’ll also need to use a recessed outlet. I ended up scrapping the low profile mount and using a tilting mount that gave me 2.5″ of clearance. Made life alot easier at the sacrifice of some sleekness on the wall. This shouldn’t have been a big surprise given how thin the TV is but, I made the mistake. Oh well. After I’ve lived with this TV for a while longer I’ll post an update but, so far so good.
